Almost a year ago, it was reported that Amazon was working on two new Kindles that would catapult them into the tablet market. The first was the Kindle Fire, a dual-core Tegra 2-powered slate, which launched this last summer. The second tablet was said to be a 10-inch version powered by NVIDIA’s quad-core Tegra 3 chipset, but that has yet to come to market.

Speculation is pointing to a Nokia launch of a Windows 8-based tabletin the 4th quarter of this year. The new tablet is believed to have a 10-inch screen and run a dual-core Qualcomm ARM processor. The chip inside is expected to be the Snapdragon S4 Krait.

University of Pittsburgh researches recently announced that they have discovered a means of wirelessly transmitting data thousands of times faster than current standards. According to reports, HP will follow up its TouchPad launch next month with the release of an unannounced 7-inch tablet in August. Citing information from an Inventec Corp. subcontractor, the Taiwanese manufacturer is said to have received a healthy number of tablet orders from HP.
